Here is some more background on Pete ...

  • In the 1980s, was a software architect, developer and project manager at the London Stock Exchange, Fidessa, Knight-Ridder Unicom and the Financial Times. Architected and developed software for automated phototypesetting, real-time financial data handling, videotext price display and price distribution within financial trading rooms, driving analytics and trading strategies. Project managed LSE's innovative Market-Eye data service, which used TV signals to distribute data.

  • Business and product analyst at the London Stock Exchange, determining business opportunities and creating product plans for the exchange's Radix digital data distribution platform, including liaising with joint venture partner IBM.

  • In 1988, founded the Dealing with Technology newsletter, which was subsequently sold in 1990 to Waters Information Services.

  • Became President and Editor-in-Chief at Waters, before it was acquired by Risk Publications (which was then acquired by Incisive Media and then sold to Infopro Digital). Led a team of editorial and publishing executives with P&L responsibility at growth stage company.

  • Opened Waters' London office and developed the company's online presence and events business. In partnership with Write Image (now Metia), created the long-running DWT event in London. More on the event here.

  • Established Waters ongoing relationship with Sun Microsystems in the financial markets, working on joint research, events and education initiatives.

  • Founded Lighthouse in 2000 and co-created the 'on Wall Street' events, covering topics such as Java, Linux, Web Services and High Performance Computing, which continue today (owned by Tabor Communications).

  • Lighthouse advised companies operating in a number of verticals, offering blockchain, high performance computing, cloud, mobile services, secure internet transactions, Java application development, and business data integration.

  • In 2006, joined former Waters colleagues at A-Team Group to become editor/publisher of its Low-Latency.com, BigDataForFinance.com and IntelligentTradingTechnology.com web communities.

  • At A-Team Group, created and headed the company's events business, including several Low-Latency, Intelligent Trading and Data Management Summits held in London and New York City, which continue today.

  • Alongside events at A-Team, created webinars and authored white papers and industry briefings for technology innovators.

  • Also at A-Team, worked with Intel and its partners to create an educational website focused on the company's offerings and value proposition for the financial markets.

  • Since 2014 as Lighthouse, focused on the blockchain, crypto and Web 3.0 spaces. Currently advises companies in the fintech, DeFi, supply chain and healthcare spaces on business and technology strategies.

  • Created the cryptomarketstech.com and block-chain.io educational websites. Subsequently, merged the websites into BTC Media's Distributed Ledger e-newsletter and contributed to the latter.

  • Created The Block Chain Conference series in order to provide a professional forum to focus on the blockchain and distributed ledger ecosystem. The first conference in San Francisco in 2016 saw IBM make its first public remarks related to its commitment to the technology.

  • Co-authored the eBook Blockchain Meets Supply Chain: Rewiring Business Operations for the Digital Age.

  • In 2018, co-founded the Austin Blockchain Collective in order to promote Austin's credentials as a global center of blockchain business, innovation and thought leadership.

  • As Executive Director of the Collective, a member of the South by Southwest (SXSW) advisory board and has presented and mentored at the annual event on a number of occasions.

  • Guest lectured at the University of Texas at Austin to the university's Blockchain Initiative, Supply Chain Management Center and the Texas Blockchain undergraduate organization.

  • Also a board member at GenomeWeb, an online publishing company focusing on bioinformatics and the business of genomic research and technology. Stepped down from the board when the business was sold to Crain Communications in 2019.

  • A UK national, Pete lived in London until crossing the pond to New York City in 1993. Pete moved to Austin, TX in 2009. He got married to well known PR entrepreneur Jennifer Massing in 2015 and hence became a proud dog dad to Jackson.
