So, here is the first of my monthly '5 Play' posts. A mini streaming podcast if you will, with some music that I like. I hope you will as well.
HAIM are 3 sisters (surname Haim, pronounced hime) and a guy drummer from Los Angeles. I discovered them via the recent iTunes festival and really enjoyed their R&B-influenced rock music and live show. This song is the title track of their debut EP . iTunes.
David Ducharme-Jones I know as the Austin guitarist who plays with Will T. Massey. Seems he has his own project going, and a new album called A Loud Guitar, from which this song was pulled. iTunes.
Granville Automatic are Vanessa Olivarez and Elizabeth Elkins, who currently hang mostly in Atlanta and Nashville. They write alt-country songs about history, the civil war and typewriters (the band is named after one). This song is from their self-titled debut. iTunes.
Zac Cleveland is a young but promising San Antonio-come-Austin singer/songwriter, and this song is from his recent album - The Whole Heart - recorded in his bedroom. He put on a great show recently at the Austin Acoustical Cafe, opening for Ruby Jane. iTunes.
Natalie Gelman - who is now transplanted from New York City to Los Angeles - just released her delightful Streetlamp Musician EP, and this song is from it. iTunes.
